Mission
As parents, we have a Biblical mandate to teach “diligently” the Word of God to our children. It is with this in mind that the moto “The sooner the better” was birthed, and in 2008 the Beginner Division of Junior Bible Quizzing officially became a National program for children 8 years old and younger.
Boasting an amazing success rate, Bible Quizzing is without a doubt one of the greatest programs the United Pentecostal Church International has to offer. “The Sooner, the Better” is truly our mission statement. The sooner we are able to instill the Word of God in their young lives, we have a better opportunity to witness the Word making an eternal impact.
History
In 1982, the General Sunday School Division of the UPCI birthed the vision to see Bible Quizzing brought to the younger generation. Under the leadership of Donald Boatman, Marty Johnson was appointed as the first Junior Bible Quizzing Director, with approximately 30 teams in attendance at the first North American Bible Quizzing Tournament. The first junior National Champion was the team from First UPC in Nashville, Tennessee.
In 2007 Bobby Long of Houston, TX was appointed as the National Junior Bible Quizzing Director. Through the leadership of he and his wife the program grew at a spectacular rate. In their final year as directors of this great ministry, in 2015, the North American Bible Quizzing Tournament set a new record of 121 teams in attendance.
