2021 Tournament COVID-19 Guidelines

  • If you are symptomatic or high-risk or live with someone who is ill, please refrain from attending tournaments. We attempt to run everything live so it can be monitored at home.
  • We will follow all state and local guidelines regarding room capacity, and social distancing. We will work with the host church in establishing and enforcing protocols. For the sake of the reputation of the host church, Children’s Ministries, and NAJBQ we ask for your strict cooperation in this regard.
  • Temperatures will be checked at the door (any temp of 100.4 F or higher will not be admitted).
  • Hand sanitizers and sanitizing wipes will be available in each quiz room.
  • Masks WILL be required as you move around the building and when not able to adhere to social distancing guidelines.
  • Depending on room size, please limit number of “non-quiz” individuals in each room to help with social distancing guidelines.
  • Teams will be treated as a family unit. In the event they are not a mask should be worn even while quizzing. As such, your group will be assigned a pew (or portion thereof), and that will be where you need to sit when in that quiz room. In smaller rooms, social distance, and keep your group together. Understanding limitations on space and capacity issues, we do ask that only quiz teams, coaches/parents and siblings attend this year. With this understanding, teams that register MUST indicate number of individuals attending with this group. This number cannot be increased once registered.
  • Quiz tables will be placed 6 feet apart (this is accomplished with cord extensions for buzzers). If space is not adequate, a divider may be used.
  • The quizmaster, judges, and scorekeeper MUST wear a mask when interacting with coaches and/or quizzers (we will plan to have a dedicated judge in each session).
  • Quizzers and/or coaches MUST to wear a mask when interacting with quizmaster, judges, and scorekeeper.
  • Opposing teams will observe social distancing from each other from when they are called up to quiz until they leave the quiz table. This will mean not engaging in standard “good quiz” handshakes after quiz (maybe replace with social distanced air high five or chicken wing, etc…). Like NAJBQT, times will be posted on the matrix so you will know when exactly when you will quiz.
  • Microphones, buzzers, and tables will be sanitized between each quiz.
  • If a quizzer chooses/needs to wear a mask while quizzing, we ask that they speak loudly and clearly. Please understand it will still be the responsibility of the quizzer to be heard and understood.

NOTE: to help with these restrictions, please plan to have a coach for each team so you’re not moving between rooms.
